Job Summary

The Mental Health Advocate role at Tri-County Human Services requires a compassionate and empathetic individual to provide support and guidance to individuals struggling with mental health issues. As a Peer Specialist, you will work closely with clients to develop personalized recovery plans, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and connect them with necessary resources and services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide direct input and support to individuals regarding their mental health journey.
  • Act as a sounding board for individuals' issues and concerns, offering a unique perspective on recovery and coping skills.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and service providers to ensure seamless referrals and connections.
  • Assist in completing and maintaining personal recovery plans, including identified strengths, needs, abilities, and goals.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to promote and support consumer's insight to recovery.

Requirements
• Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and at least one year of full-time experience in a mental health or addictions treatment setting.
• Must satisfy core competency job requirements and obtain certification as a Certified Peer Specialist within one year of initiating this position.
• Possesses knowledge of addictions treatment and/or mental health treatment programs and supportive services.
• Demonstrates general understanding of the causes, nature, and treatment of substance abuse and/or mental health problems.
