SY 2025-2026TRI-COUNTY SPECIAL EDUCATION JOINT AGREEMENTJOB TITLE: Physical Education (PE) TeacherMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper licensure to teach Physical Education in the State ofIllinois; preference given to those holding Adaptive PE endorsement. Ability to develop effective workingrelationships with administration, staff and the school community.REPORTS TO: As assigned to appropriate Building Principals and/or Program SupervisorESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 1. The teacher will prepare teaching materials and related reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotalrecords, behavior reports) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans.2.

The teacher will assess students physical needs for the purpose of developing baseline information forprogram development and instruction.3. The teacher will provide instruction to PE classes in the Aspire programs, including Carbondale,DuQuoin, and other locations as needed. Mileage will be paid to travel between programs as outlinedin TCSE Travel Reimbursement procedures .4. The teacher will attend various meetings, including IEP meetings, as requested, and will be prepared toshare student progress as needed.5.

The teacher will be responsible for providing grades to each students case manager.6. The teacher will be responsible for administering the FitnessGram (Physical Fitness Assessment) togrades 3-12.7. The teacher will direct instructional aides and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effectiveschool program and addressing the needs of individual students.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. The teacher shall work the same hours as other teachers at the local public school building, normallyexpected to be six hours and forty five minutes per school day and shall work 180 days per school year.2.

The teacher shall serve on building committees as requested by the building principals.3. The teacher shall follow all guidelines as addressed in the Responsibilities of Teachers section of thepolicy manual.4. The teacher shall assume other responsibilities as requested by his/her supervisor.TECHNOLOGY EXPECTATIONS: 1. Integration of Technology into Instruction: a.

Demonstrates growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of currentand emerging technologies.b. Uses technology to enhance productivity and professional practices includingword processing, spreadsheet, telecommunications, class attendance(Powerschool), Individual Education Plan (IEP) program (Embrace)c. Utilize Google Classroom in the event of remote learningOTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Perform other duties as assigned by the Director/Designee.Pay and Benefits in accordance to the collective bargaining agreement. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: 1.

The teacher is to serve as a case manager for all students on their caseload.2. When requested, the teacher will serve as a behavioral specialist assisting thestaff in developing behavioral intervention plans for students attending the localschool as well as for those students receiving services in Tri-County classrooms.3. The teacher will provide instruction to students as part of the special educationteam. In order to minimize the stigma often associated with this placement; theteacher will provide instruction to a variety of students with special educationneeds.4.

The teacher will intervene, on a temporary basis, as an In-School suspensionsupervisor for emotionally disturbed students in crisis; andas needed for other special education students as requested by Districtand Tri-County Administrative Staff.5. The teacher will participate in IEP meetings as requested and will be prepared toshare student progress, as well as recommend program goals and objectives.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. The teacher shall attend all staff meetings at the local public school unlessinstructed by his/her supervisor to do otherwise.2. The teacher shall assume duties as assigned by the building principal orTechnical Assistant Supervisor to assist in the overall supervision of thebuilding.Teacher- 2 -23.

The teacher shall serve on building committees as requested by the local publicschool staff.5. The person will follow all guidelines as addressed in the Responsibilities ofTeachers section of the policy manual.6. The person shall assume other responsibilities as requested by his/hersupervisor.7.

Integration of Technology into Instructiona. Demonstrates continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stayabreast of current and emerging technologies.b. Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiencessupported by available software and technology.c. Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategiesfor applying technology to maximize student learning in the curriculum ofones subject area(s) and/or grade level(s).d.

Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment andevaluation strategies.e. Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professionalpractices including word processing, database, spreadsheet,telecommunications and print/graphic utilities, class attendance(Lighthouse), Individual Education Plan (IEP) programs.Pay and Benefits in accordance to the collective bargaining agreement.
