The Chief Engagement Officer (CEngO) is part of the Executive Team. The CEngO’s primary objective is to accomplish the Enterprise Strategic Plan as it relates to Fraternity membership, including growing the membership, increasing lifetime engagement among our members, and expanding and stabilizing additional revenue models to diversify income sources. This role collaborates with other members of the Executive Team, the CEO, and the entity boards, as needed.
The CEngO leads four direct reports and a team totaling 50 employees. The CEngO’s scope of responsibility includes collegiate and alumnae membership growth, membership engagement, membership support, and brand advancement to support and sustain the other three areas. The CEngO is responsible for representing the “voice of the member” when designing pathways to accomplish the Enterprise Strategic Plan.

Strategic Leadership, Development, and Innovation
- Serve as the entity leader for Tri Delta Fraternity, working to ensure that Tri Delta functions as an industry leader poised to assist her members in every possible way
- Blend the synergistic efforts of membership growth, membership engagement, member & chapter support teams with brand advancement team efforts to bring to life a compelling engagement strategy that will reach and retain current and potential Tri Delta members across generations
- Align Fraternity Team performance to the Tri Delta’s Strategic Plan objectives with a focus on efficiently achieving key performance metrics
- Innovatively position Tri Delta resources, structures, staff and volunteers to deliver an unparalleled membership experience that draws women to the organization and makes Tri Delta a relevant, essential part of their lifelong journey
- Develop deep familiarity with industry/sector research and insights. Lead innovation efforts to apply insights that will inform a membership experience that is ever more aligned with Tri Delta’s evolving understanding of generational needs, desires and priorities
- Measure progress toward defined goals and report status to the Executive Team and boards
- Develop and achieve annual expectation for the Fraternity revenue and related expenses
Membership Growth
- Grow Tri Delta membership via proactive and traditional extension (new chapter) opportunities
- Support the VP Membership Growth in developing and implementing a comprehensive extension strategy
- Lead collaboration with the Brand Advancement Team and support the VP Membership Growth to position Tri Delta to most effectively compete for, and win, extension opportunities
- Grow Tri Delta membership via effective recruitment and retention efforts that inspire potential new members to seek, explore and accept Tri Delta’s promise of lifelong friendship / belonging /sisterhood in existing chapters/channels
- Lead collaboration with the Brand Advancement Team and support the VP Membership Growth in defining and accomplishing a recruitment strategy for both collegiate and alumnae recruitment
- Collaborate with the NPC delegate, CEO and Fraternity President to provide recommendations on recruitment and extension policies for NPC decision making opportunities
- Develop relationships with and represent Tri Delta in communities where Tri Delta chapters could be returned or newly formed
- Participate in extension and recruitment opportunities as needed
- Ensure the definition of and reporting on annual growth metrics
Membership Engagement
- Position Tri Delta to maximize meaningful engagement across generations, stages of membership and life milestones so that Tri Delta is an essential part of her members’ lives
- Support the VP Membership Engagement in defining and accomplishing the engagement strategy for both collegiate and alumnae members
- Drive “belonging” as a core cultural touchstone for Tri Delta groups and members
- Support the VP Membership Engagement in defining and accomplishing a comprehensive member development strategy to that enriches the educational, career, and philanthropic pursuits of a broad group of Tri Delta members
- Ensure the thoughtful planning and execution of key Fraternity events such as Convention, Collegiate Leadership Conference, and Volunteer Leadership Conference
- Be present and engaged at all Fraternity hosted member events including, but not limited to, Convention, Collegiate Leadership Conference, Volunteer Leadership Conference
- Represent the Executive Team with collegiate members and volunteers
- Support stakeholder engagement and donor stewardship through communications management and engagement activities
- Ensure the definition of and reporting on annual engagement and retention metrics
Member and Chapter Support
- Position Tri Delta for success in operating collegiate and alumnae chapters at diverse locations across North America via robust support functions and structures
- Support the VP Member and Chapter Support in defining the processes and tools needed to effectively and efficiently support the collegiate and alumnae members and chapters, including volunteers
- Visit collegiate and alumnae chapters, as needed, and when requested by the CEO or Executive Board
- Develop and refine Bylaws and policies for all collegiate and alumnae chapters
- Raise chapter and member issues to the CEO and Executive Team when legal or reputational risk is threatened
- Ensure the definition and tracking of annual chapter performance metrics (both collegiate and alumnae) and develop and execute support plans for chapter as needed
Brand Advancement
- Position Tri Delta as a premier women’s organization and maximize the reach of Tri Delta’s brand to telegraph Tri Delta’s values, build affinity for Tri Delta, and advance the larger sorority movement as a catalyst for women to find lifelong sources of belonging
- Support the VP Brand Advancement in defining and implementing a brand strategy that supports the Enterprise Strategic Plan
- Serve as a passionate advocate for Tri Delta’s brand and for the broader sorority movement
- Communicate the brand strategy and vision to the stakeholders. Equip the CEO, Executive Team, and entity boards to do the same
- Support the VP Brand Advancement in creating a communications strategy and plan
- Provide real-time support and leadership during PR issues or crises
- Serve as an ambassador for Tri Delta in public-facing communications channels like the website, events and the podcast
Operations and Industry
- Lead with collaboration within the Fraternity team and between all teams (e.g., Development, Operations, Finance)
- Participate in Executive Team and Leadership Team meetings
- Report to the Executive Team overall chapter health (collegiate and alumnae.)
- Serve as an advisor to Tri Delta’s Executive Board and national leadership on fraternity-related matters
- Attend and contribute to entity board meetings as requested
- Hold responsibility for the financial performance of the Fraternity including development of operating plans and performance against those plans for the Fraternity Team
- Remain up to date on trends and practices that impact higher education, fraternity/sorority life and Tri Delta
- Build and maintain relationships with university officials and NPC personnel on campuses where Tri Delta has an established, emerging, or potential chapter
- Remain up to date on university agreements and specific processes where Tri Delta has an established, emerging, or potential chapter
- Serve as a main point of contact for correspondence with university personnel
Qualifications
- 10-15 years of related experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
- At least 10 years of professional staff management experience
- Possesses solid knowledge of member engagement and growth, programming, curriculum development, revenue stream growth, brand advancement, event planning, and institutional interaction skills
- Demonstrated success leading collegiate and alumnae member engagement, volunteerism, events, and program, and Chapter development
- Strong leadership, communication, complex decision-making, and organizational skills
- Ability to model, teach, and promote Tri Delta’s guiding principles, Purpose, and vision while living out the Core Values of the Executive Office
