The Senior Accountant, Foundation uses their detail orientation and organizational skills to manage the financial reporting, accounting, and compliance functions of Tri Delta’s Foundation. The role ensures the accuracy of financial records, supports donor stewardships efforts, and maintains compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations. This person is a mission-driven professional who exudes passion about supporting the philanthropic goals of Tri Delta’s Foundation.
- Status: Full-time, remote
- Travel: 5%
- Supervised by: Controller, with a dotted line to Chief Development Officer
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain the Foundation’s financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations
- Manage all accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger reconciliations
- Process donations, track restricted and unrestricted funds, and prepare donor stewardship reports
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and provide financial forecasting
- Support in the annual audit and tax filing process, working closely with external auditors and tax preparers
- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations
- Collaborate with the development team to provide accurate financial data for grant applications, donor reports, and fundraising initiatives
- Monitor investment accounts and ensure proper accounting treatment of endowments and restricted funds
- Assist in implementing and improving financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or foundation setting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards (FASB), and IRS regulations related to tax-exempt organizations
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Blackbaud Financial Edge, or similar) and Microsoft Suite
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work collaboratively across teams
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with Sage Intacct Planning software
- Experience with Fundriver software
