What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Painter position at Tri-Mer Corporation?
Summary:
Responsible for the preparation and painting of all components, subassembly or products that require coating.
Essential Functions:
1. Prepare metal surfaces for painting using sandblast equipment, hand grinders, buffers or other abrasive equipment as required.
2. Clean equipment regularly and maintain paint equipment in good condition.
3. Operate overhead crane and forklifts in a safe manner to move material in and out of paint booth as required.
4. Apply paint according to internal and external specifications and within quality standards.
5. Keep work area clean and adhere to good housekeeping in performance of job tasks.
6. Other duties, as assigned.
Required Experience/Skills:
Experience in industrial equipment painting
Experience wet painting using an airless sprayer gun
Ability to differentiate between colors
Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
5. Familiar with various paints and able to read directions to correctly mix paint.
Familiar with paint booth operation, capable of operating spray gun and rollers in painting industrial equipment.
Ability to interact with all individuals at all organizational levels.
Strong communication skills
Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment
10. Ability to conduct self in a respectful and appropriate manner and to safely perform essential job tasks.
11. Ability to perform tasks with view to producing quality product in an efficient and productive manner to meet customer project schedules.
12. Ability to reason and apply principles of logic to a wide range of factors when working on jobs.
Special Dimensions:
Exposed to occupational and environmental risks part of a normal workday.
Must be able to pass a medical examination for respiratory protection. Exams are required annually.
General Hazards:
1. Confined space entry procedures must be followed whenever entries are necessary.
2. Proper operation of forklifts; use of seat belts when driving as rollover protection to move product between 5,000 to 25,000 pounds.
3. Proper use of scaffolding and ladders to reduce fall hazards.
4. Proper lifting techniques must be utilized to lift product; additional assistance required when lifting product in excess of 50 pounds.
5. Removal of all facial hair that might interfere with respirator fit.
Personal Protective Equipment required:
1. Hearing Protection for level of noise
2. Safety shoes and hard hats for protection from falling loads and equipment
3. Safety glasses for eye protection
4. Appropriate clothing required to protect against solvents used in painting and materials used in blasting operations
Supplied air respiratory protection as well as air purifying respirators with organic vapor cartridges to protect worker against air borne particles and vapors
