REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
- Six months to one-year verifiable experience as a certified forklift operator.
- Six months to one-year experience working with the communications within a warehouse/storage facility and in fulfilling general duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Experience in maintaining proper records and files via paper and electronic tablets.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Must be able to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
LICENSING / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATION
- Must be a certified forklift operator
- Valid Driver’s License
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Punches in on time and is available for work at the beginning of the shift.
- Ensures that all equipment is operated in a safe manner.
- Participates in monthly safety meetings.
- Load and unload trucks carefully, without incident.
- Safely drop and hook trailers.
- Drive tractor-trailer combinations to deliver/move containers, products/materials around the facility to designated areas;
- Maintain fuel/oil levels in the equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people, equipment, etc.) at all times.
- Install container chassis supports where required.
- Monitor and report operational activities.
- A periodic check of Truck as per the checklist provided.
- Maintain communication with dispatch operations.
- Reads and understands all load/unload paperwork, documents.
- Follow proper procedures for damages.
- Keep yard / warehouse free and clear of debris and trash.
- Empties trash dumpster.
- Pulls all freight before loading, double checks freight and documents.
- Reads and understands all import and export documents.
- Measures export crates.
- Repairs any boxes as needed due to damages.
- Adds “check digit” to load sheets.
- Familiar with countries/stuffing containers.
- Understands unload sheets – do not unload any freight without unload sheet.
- Load/unload containers by hand if required.
- Understands stripping reports.
- Familiar with seal verification procedures.
- Daily inspection of forklift using checklist.
- Jumpstarts equipment, as necessary.
- Ensure that all necessary tasks are completed before the end of the shift.
- Maintain and operate other warehouse equipment in a safely manner.
- Must read, understand, and sign that their personal Job Description or Duties List is understood and can be performed properly.
- Must read and comply with all company rules, regulations and policies, and good housekeeping habits.
- Maintains cooperative and positive working relationships with customers, coworkers, peers, vendors, and the business community.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position will be working primarily in a warehouse environment. From this movement (outdoors and warehouse), the employee will encounter varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- The employee must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions including high-temperature summer months.
- The noise level in the work environment is higher in the warehouse and/or outdoors.
- The normal workday will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, the hours will be longer when specific projects are due; thus, some extended schedules including weekend work will be necessary.
- The physical requirements are sitting to drive mobile equipment, and walking is required within the warehouse/office area. This position requires, besides walking, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending, and flexing the arms, legs, wrists and fingers.
