Industrial Service Technician

Tri-State Overhead Crane continues to grow our customer base we are on the lookout for a strong service technicians to be part of our team! We are a crane and material handling equipment fabrication and service company. We've been independently owned company for over 60 years, based in the Midwest, with customers from coast to coast. This role will be based out of our Kansas City location.

Here's a summary of what the Service Technician will handle:

The Service Technician will run electrical and mechanical diagnostics and provide required repairs. They are responsible for performing comprehensive quality inspections, required repairs, and preventative maintenance services on overhead cranes, hoists, and associated parts. They will spend a majority of their time on clients' sites providing service, so they also act as representatives of the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Troubleshoot and repair overhead cranes, crane controls, hoists and drives.
• Inspect overhead industrial cranes and hoists.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment.
• Proper use of a man lift during service.
• Evaluate and communicate with customers recommendations requiring repairs.
• Communicate with management and sales as to what further needs the customer could have.
• Maintains time tracking per job and reports any product concerns or inconsistencies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

CORE SKILLS:

• Ability to read and understand work instructions, manuals, and schematics.
• Ability to read and execute fabrication drawings.
• Ability to manage time to a schedule and accountable for reporting per job.
• Ability to properly maintain and perform basic troubleshooting on equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software as necessary to complete logs or records.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2-4 years' work experience as a technician in an industrial environment.
• Mechanical and electrical skills ideally learned from a trade school.
• Overhead crane experience not required, but familiarity and exposure to working on cranes and hoists a definite plus.
• Welding aptitude would be a benefit.
• Ability to work overtime.
• Demonstrated positive attendance record.
