What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power System Engineer position at Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc.?

You will manage power system analysis, technical studies and maintenance, collaborative engineering, reporting transmission studies, and contributing to Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies.
What you will do:
- Develop technical studies for the interconnected transmission system including power flow, short-circuit, stability, and EMT models and application.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of transmission line and transformer databases. Contribute to the development of capital construction budgets.
- Collaborate with neighboring transmission utilities to conduct engineering analyses of joint planning and operating studies.
- Prepare and present reports documenting transmission system studies and engineering projects.
- Develop standards for transmission interconnection, service, and planning.
- Ensure regulatory compliance in Environmental, Employment Law, NERC Reliability Standards and Safety.
Who you are:
You are a planner with excellent time management and communication skills. You are a strong collaborator who can analyze problems and develop effective solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering – power or related area
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- General knowledge of electrical power transmission and substation equipment.
- Knowledgeable in government regulations affecting electric utilities, and safety policies.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time on an annual basis.
