Location: Joplin MO or Glendale AZ

Job Summary:

Responsible for operating the fleet to optimal levels, which exceed weekly revenue per mile and total revenue goals. Manage the fleets’ assets to achieve high levels of productivity, safety, service and driver retention. Serve as the main communication link between the driver and other departments within the company.

Key Accountabilities (Essential Functions):

· Communications: Thoroughly communicate to drivers, load planners, inside sales and extended coverage. This includes follow through. Lack of communication is detrimental to the success of the company.

· Productivity: Increase productivity by decreasing idle-time and by monitoring driver availability.

· Service: Make sure drivers pick up and deliver on time. If this is not possible, timely notification to customers by communicating the revised ETA.

· Driver Retention: Proper input of driver activity to insure proper pay.

· Communicate with drivers daily via check call. Watchful for problems or delays that may hinder or discourage drivers. Respond to request for “days home”, “miles” as much as possible.

· Maintenance Cost: Monitor drivers’ adherence to scheduled maintenance to reduce breakdown, cost of road repairs, motel expenses and down time.

· Accidents: Reduce accident/cargo claim losses by daily updates to the drivers about company safety policies, and reviewing the measurements and the securement of all loads.

· Fuel cost: Council drivers on truck idling, help plan routes, monitor routine maintenance to maximize fuel efficiency.

· Must be able to qualify for Government Security Clearance.

· CSR notification of delays in loading and unloading to reduce chance of detention time.

· Data Input Accuracy: Accurate input of driver’s ETA’s and availability times is communication that reduces operational costs.

· Securement of equipment: Make driver responsible for securement of equipment by monitoring that equipment and communications to Securement Equipment Coordinator of any losses or gains in such equipment.

· Communication Cost: Streamlines communications costs (QUALCOMM vs. phone).

· Follow correct SOP procedures.

· Monitor DTTS on satellite monitor loads. DCS trailer Tracking

· Performs any additional duties assigned or determined by management to be an essential function of the job.

Additional related tasks and miscellaneous duties may be assigned to this position by supervisory personnel as appropriate or necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Effectively supervises assigned employees, monitoring workflow, status, productivity, quality of work, timeliness, practice of safe and efficient work methods, achievement of key factor results and accomplishment of goals, interacts with employees, providing information and coaching in performing assigned responsibilities and providing additional training as appropriate for employee development. Ensures employees are well oriented to position and receive adequate instruction for completion of assignments. Completes standard forms, and all personnel related documents and records as appropriate. Write-up/discipline/coach assigned drivers and follow through by monitoring. Recommend and participate in termination of subordinates as warranted.

Assigned Work Region: Physical presence in assigned workplace. Office area/Operations. Work in a close-quartered, high-volume phone environment, open to group meetings, classes, etc. Some travel involved.

General Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some secondary education preferred.

Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbal). Computer knowledge. Interpersonal. Management of people. (Ability to make quick and sound decisions.) Area of expertise-transportation: operations & related.

Knowledge: Possesses considerable expertise in area assigned, has ability to identify and resolve complex problems based on extensive knowledge. Understanding of DOT hours of service and transportation regulations. Some transportation experience preferred.

Experience: Must be able to qualify for government security clearance. 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar position or environment is requested, with 4 years preferred.

Scope of Responsibility: Follows established procedures and policies, but may use some discretion in identifying, researching, and resolving problems. May prioritize tasks and time, with direction of supervisor. Errors have impact on organizations financial performance.

Supervision: Supervises a unit of personnel, or supervises a group of people in diverse positions of industry or professional specialization, often non-routine in nature.

Internal/External Contacts: Communication is continuous and often complex, to resolve non-routine problems, provide direction, negotiate complex transactions, or convey highly specialized information.

Unique Conditions: Quick decisions needed under pressure.

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and keep a government Secret Security Clearance.
