Clinical Assistant
Job Summary:
The Clinical Assistant, under the direction of the Clinical Director, assists with the daily clinical functions of the office. Regular attendance is an essential part of this job.
Essential Functions:
Straightens up exam rooms and puts clean sheets and pillowcases on each exam table
Ensures nurses/doctors areas ready to see patients
Prepares schedules per doctors’ preference
Prepares injections
Assembles necessary papers-scripts, therapy orders, etc
Prepares anything extra per nurse/doctor preference
Checks supply cart
Assists in injections, aspirations, casting, etc. but not to take the place of the nurse
Puts patients in exam rooms in appointment order
Prepares patients to be seen-gown, shorts, etc.
Checks if patient requires X-rays, staple or suture removal, cast removal prior to seeing doctor
Ensures all paperwork is on chart, labs, EKG results, therapy notes, etc.
Closes rooms at the end of office by stripping sheets and pillowcases and disposing of all trash on counters
Cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed
Assembles surgery packets for nurses
Additional Responsibilities:
Covers for other associates when on vacation, leave, etc.
Job Qualifications:
Prior medical office experience preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
Ability to use phone, fax, pager, copier
Must be able to multi-task
Ability to work at fast pace
Ability to work with all doctors and nurses
