SUMMARY
Directs door department employees to set up and operate a variety of woodworking machines to fabricate wood doors and drawers by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
· Directs the work activities of all assemblers assigned to his shop.
· Selects, installs, and adjusts saw blades, cutter-heads, boring bits; and sanding belts in respective machines.
· Starts machine and make trial cuts.
· Operates machines to saw; to smooth and shape lumber; to bore holes; to cut slots, grooves, and designs in wood-stock; and to sand lumber, wood-stock, and parts.
· Verifies dimensions of parts for adherence to specifications.
· Assembles fabricated parts to make products such as doors and drawers. Orders sharpening and replacing machine-cutting heads.
· Communicates breakdowns to his manager.
· Completes assigned work on schedule. Follows directions.
· Requires little rework on his completed daily tasks.
· Complies with all job safety procedures.
· Works assigned schedule and produces required output. Uses common sense to reduce injuries to self and others.
· Works when asked to meet unexpected deadlines or increased production quotas. Quickly learns new techniques and skills.
· Make decisions according to his range of authority. Maintains a positive attitude under stressful circumstances.
· Demonstrates being responsible and accountable for his actions. Willingly, accepts challenges at work.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises one to six (1-6) employees in departmental activities. Assists the Production Supervisor in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
