POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skills duties in one or more of the building trades; painting, carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, cement masonry, dry wall or HVAC in order to maintain, repair and remodel facilities. This job class requires knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning (HVAC), general carpentry, and occupational safety (Cal OSHA and OSHA) regulations; and the ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician is responsible with assisting the technicians to complete overall repair and maintenance of all aspects of production equipment within the facility, including all manual and CNC machines, mills, lathes, and grinding equipment associated with the production areas of the company.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- *Performs a variety of carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, cement masonry or HVAC preventative maintenance repairs and new construction projects.
- *Repairs interior walls by demolition, installing new drywall, painting, and finish work.
- *Assists as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems such as: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, steam system, automatic temperature control, or electrical.
- *Cleans, paints, and assists in repair of lathes, mills, grinders and other mechanical systems used within the production areas.
- *Cleans and refills coolant from recycling to system and add new coolant as needed.
- *Cleans chips from chip trays and removes from area to recycling bins.
- *Handles waste fluids and keep the area clean and managed.
- *Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- *Orders parts and supplies as needed to maintain resources.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five or more years of work experience in building maintenance;
- Knowledge of Cal OSHA and OSHA occupational safety regulations;
- Knowledge of and the proper use of specialized departmental equipment including that used in the trades of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general carpentry;
- Ability to read and understand construction, electrical, and equipment drawings and schematics;
- Basic computer literacy for entering and looking up information using standard business software;
- Customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests; and escalate the more difficult matters appropriately;
- Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, customers and others;
- Communication skills to provide procedural and information, and to follow written and oral instructions;
- Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities;
- Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common-sense skills.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
Technical/other training
CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:
The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:
Valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
- Maneuvering in and around equipment
- Bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling
- Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds
- May be required to climb ladders and/or step stools
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with forklifts, material handling and production equipment, as well as an office setting. May be exposed to noise from equipment and depending on external weather conditions exposure to heat, cold, wind, and rain.
