SHELTER MANAGER
(Domestic Violence Shelter)
Exempt ~ Full-time
Starting Salary Range: $27.18 - $32.00
(5% pay differential for fluent Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, or Tagalog bilingual language skills)

General Responsibilities: Working under the direct supervision of the Director of Domestic Violence Services, acts in a middle-management capacity, to ensure the smooth running of the domestic violence shelter. Oversees case management/advocacy, data collection, supervision of case managers and the safety and security of the shelter residents.
General Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant experience in a residential setting, 2 years’ experience in domestic violence services. Critical thinking, crisis management, working in emergency situations and ability to keep the team motivated and engaged. Computer literacy, database management required. Completion of Agency Training within 6 months of employment (if not before).
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
I. SHELTER MANAGEMENT
- Shelter operations - ensure use of established procedures for client intake and exit, case management, house meetings, counseling requirements, crisis line calls, data entry etc.
- Train and supervise Case Managers, including Overnight Staff. Always ensure appropriate and sufficient staffing at the shelter by maintaining a work schedule, ensure that the crisis line is always staffed.
- Responsible for scheduling weekly back-up.
- Responsible for upkeep and appearance of the shelter facilities by making sure that maintenance issues are promptly reported, inventory of supplies is monitored, donations are sorted and stored.
- Ensure that the DV Services Team is following agency policies & procedures, maintaining safety and healthy working conditions.
II. ADVOCACY/DIRECT SERVICE
- Respond to crisis line calls, assist staff with client intake and exits,
- Provide support to staff with de-escalating issues with clients, advocacy, information and referral, and crisis intervention for clients ensures client confidentiality, ensure staff maintains appropriate boundaries.
- Responsible for complying with all laws, including elder abuse reporting, CPS reporting, 5150 laws and suicide assessment.
- Oversee transportation for clients.
- Assure that clients are aware of shelter guidelines.
- Review daily shelter log regularly to ensure information is up-to-date.
- Facilitate groups as needed.
III. FACILITY/PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing data collection required by funding sources and producing reports to be forwarded to the Contracts Manager and Director of Domestic Violence Services.
- Responsible for training and overseeing data entry and report preparation by Overnight Staff.
- Responsible for overseeing the shelter client library and keep the system updated on the computer.
- Share responsibility with other shelter staff for maintaining adequate supply of paperwork and forms necessary for program, including phone screening, intake packets, etc.
IV. GENERAL TASKS
- Performs community public speaking presentations for Tri-Valley Haven. Attend staff meetings and Board/Staff meetings as needed. Participate in community fundraising and special events as needed.
- Must have a valid California driver license and an insured automobile that employee will use as necessary for agency related business, including transportation of clients.
- Must maintain a good Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to be able to drive for the agency.
