What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinic Nurse LPN/RN position at Tri Valley Health System?
Non-Exempt, FT Position, 4 days per week, 32 hours per week
General Summary:
Responsible for the patient flow for the assigned provider through telephone response, triage and appointment scheduling, exam and procedure assistance, patient education, patient recall and direct communication with the provider. Clinic locations in Arapahoe, Cambridge and Indianola.
Essential Functions:
- Dependability
- Regular and Reliable Attendance.
- Attention to Detail
- Prepares the exam area for patients by keeping rooms cleaned, stocked, and ready for use at all times.
- Maintains accurate laboratory records and schedules of tests performed in the clinics
- Assists in maintaining daily log for temperature control in the lab’s vaccine refrigerator and freezer.
- Checks the expiration dates on all clinic medications in each area where medications are kept and remove expired medications from the inventory.
- Administer prescribed medications and vaccinations, noting times and amounts on patients' charts.
- Update patients’ chart on NESIIS after giving vaccinations.
- Donning appropriate PPE, instruments will be decontaminated using hospital approved germicidal agent(s) per manufacturer’s instructions for use and placed in a designated biohazard container for transport to the Sterile Processing Department.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Collect samples, such as blood, and urine from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures as well as sign any consents prior.
- Assemble and use equipment.
- Inventory and requisition supplies and instruments.

- Addresses medication refill request both by fax and electronically.
- Refill patient’s medications per protocol during provider absence or request.
- Calls medications per the provider in to the patient's pharmacy.
- Assist patient from clinic waiting room to exam room while performing intake of reason for visit and updating chart electronically including but not limited to medication, past medical history, surgeries, and social history.
- Informing patient of results at the provider's direction.
- Schedule's appointments and order tests as needed at provider's direction or per standing orders.
- Maintains accurate laboratory records and schedules of tests performed in the clinics

- Complete monthly safety trainings and health stream assignments.

- Move patient’s to be seen by a different provider if primary provider is in ER for extended amount of time.

Education and Experience:
- Current Licensed Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse licensure in the State of Nebraska
Regulatory Requirements:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) validation required.
