General Summary:
Maintains and preserves a clean and safe environment in all facilities along with aiding in infection control by utilizing proper cleaning techniques. Reports maintenance deficiencies and complies with housekeeping procedures, safety guidelines and security procedures.
Essential Functions:
Dependability
- Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
- Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Replenish supplies, such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners and shampooers.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, tidy, and locked.
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of all floors; carpets, tile, concrete and brick flooring.
Integrity
- Observe precautions required to protect hospital and guest property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
- Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions and hand hygiene.
Attention to Detail
- Maintains an adequate supply of soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue in all areas as required.
- Utilizer the appropriate chemicals, supplies and clean techniques according to procedure and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Independence
- Push wheeled housekeeping cart supplied with cleaning supplies.
- Operates and maintains all equipment correctly and safely.
Compliance
- Promotes and adheres to the provisions of the compliance program.
- Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Promotes and adheres to the TVHS core values and Standards of Behavior.
Education and Experience:
- Previous institutional cleaning experience preferred
