Job Description:
The Culinary Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of nutritious meals to children. This position requires an individual who is passionate about nutrition and has excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in meal preparation, adhering to pre-approved menus and recipes.
- Under the guidance of the Child Nutrition Services Manager, adapt menu items to meet dietary requirements of children with special needs.
- Monitor plate waste and report results to the Child Nutrition Services Manager.
- Participate in food purchasing, within budgetary guidelines as directed by the Food Service Manager or Center Manager.
- Record-keeping, as requested by the Food Service Manager, includes daily records of meals and snacks served, production records, and food temperatures.
Safety and Sanitation:
- Maintain high standards of sanitation in preparation, service of food, and storage.
- Prepare meals according to State Health Department sanitation standards.
- Familiarize yourself with agency and regulatory information to ensure all necessary postings are conspicuous for public view.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age; candidates are strongly encouraged to obtain their high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and complete necessary paperwork in English.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
