Our client is seeking a creative, energetic Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team north of Boston. The selected engineer will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the development of complex electro-mechanical products as well as conceptualizing and developing new products, parts, mechanisms, and assemblies. They will work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary development team and use SolidWorks effectively to produce a range of meaningful deliverables, including conceptual designs, 3D models, manufacturing tolerance analyses, and 2D production-level documentation of components and assemblies. The engineer will also support hardware development involving electro-mechanical design, prototyping, laboratory testing, analysis, and manufacturing implementation.
To be successful in this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will have experience executing or managing standard engineering processes including : Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), Heat Transfer, Fluids Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Cost Analysis. They will also provide technical expertise in thermo-sciences including refrigeration, heat transfer, and fluid flow. Background Profile :
- B.S. / M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- 10 years of design engineering experience in consumer products, robotics, and / or medical industries, demonstrating technical and manufacturable solutions. Previous experience in a research or product development environment is a plus.
- Ability to generate robust 3D databases, mechanical drawings, prototypes, and written reports. SolidWorks proficiency required.
- Solid experience with the engineering and design of chiller systems desired including vapor compression cycles, heat exchanger design, and thermal modeling.
- Working knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, rapid prototyping, sheet metal fabrication, casting, and machining.
- Experience in designing plastic parts for injection molding is a plus.
- High level of personal commitment to quality, with demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail in all phases of a project.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highlighted by a flexible and collaborative working style.
- Understanding and appreciation for industrial design, interaction design, and user research preferred.
- US citizen or legal residency required.
