Home Health Aide

HHA is responsible for providing quality care to assist the client with activities of daily living, demonstrating efficiency and practical skills in rendering personal care, and fostering increased independence and empowerment. This personal care is a crucial aspect of the role, demonstrating your responsibility and care for the client's well-being.

Specific Accountabilities:

• Read, know, and implement organizational policies and procedures
• Respect individual rights and confidentiality
• Enhance the self-esteem of the individuals served
• Promote a comfortable atmosphere within the service site
• Remain alert to the client's behavior/physical changes and notify as appropriate
• Initiate and support the client’s involvement in activities
• Read, know, and implement the client's Plan of Care
• Effectively communicate and receive information to both clients and other staff
• Report all unusual incidents to the supervisor. Perform errands within 5 mile radius
• Assist with personal hygiene, which may include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, skin care, foot care, and monitoring intake and output
• Assist with ambulation and positioning, including lifting positioning in bed, transferring, and range of motion exercises.
• Provide homemaking activities, including but not limited to meal preparation and cleanup, laundry, bed making, dusting, and waste disposal (basic light housekeeping).
• Assist with paying bills and personal correspondence as directed by the client.
  
  
  

Personnel

• Attend all required training and accumulate required annual hours of in-service training.
• Assist in staff development of peers
• Promote positive teamwork
• Complete all Home Health Aide forms, including time sheets, promptly
• Maintain open communication with the supervisor
• Consistently adhere to assigned schedule
• Give timely notice (minimum 2 hours) when unable to meet assigned shift responsibilities
• Display professional conduct, appearance, and attitude at all times.
• Provide assistance and information regarding investigations as requested by the supervisor
• Direct any complaints from outside sources to the immediate supervisor
• Able to read, comprehend, and speak English
  
  
  

Minimum Requirements: At least 18 years of age, possess a state competency certification as a home health aide and have verifiable work experience in the field in the past 24 months or have one year's paid experience in the field, possess good communication skills in English, free of communicable disease, possess a valid Ohio driver's license, maintain adequate auto insurance, pass a criminal background check, verification of a criminal background check. Maybe required to complete a drug screening. Willingness to be available to supervisor through telephone, make sound judgments, work as a team member with consistency and quality services, and exchange support and constructive criticism.
