Job Overview
The Food Service Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our food service. This position requires a leader who is passionate about culinary excellence and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. The Food Service Manager will be responsible for creating menu, communicating with food vendors, managing kitchen staff, ensuring efficient service delivery, requesting reimbursement, ensuring compliance, and creating a positive dining experience for all students.
Duties
- Oversee daily food service operations, including kitchen management and staff supervision.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Request and manage NSLP and reimbursement
- Lead the efforts in getting the NSLP application and approval
- Develop and implement menus that meet customer preferences while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety practices, and customer service skills.
- Coordinate banquet services and special events, ensuring all details are executed flawlessly.
- Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure it meets established standards.
- Handle customer inquiries and feedback to enhance overall dining experiences.
Skills
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in shift management and team coordination.
- Proficient in culinary techniques with a solid understanding of kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food service management.
- Knowledge and experience in NSLP
- Experience in school cafeteria management or similar environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively manage staff and interact with customers.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in banquet planning and execution is a plus.
