Maintenance Technician
Established in 1987, Triad Metals International is a privately held, independent company that has grown to become one of the premier distributors of structural steel, tubing, piling, and plate products. We are looking to hire a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! A Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
Successful Candidates will be expected to:
- Ensure operation of machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Adherence to company and industry safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
- Locate sources of problems by observing devices/systems in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
- Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provide maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintain continuity among work teams by communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to walk and stand for long periods of time. The associate is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, and utilize repetitive motion. The associate may be exposed to adverse environmental conditions, such as in a typical warehouse or external loading area.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Support of Maintenance Manager, Shop Managers, and Production Management.
- Comfortable working from heights.
Qualifications/Required Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
- 2 years maintenance history in industrial setting, with steel experience is a plus (including experience gained in military service.
- A strong understanding of electrical systems and schematics is a plus.
- This role can be physically demanding and may require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout a normal shift.
