Position Summary:
The Project Manager oversees all aspects of assigned ship repair projects, with full responsibility for project profits and losses. This role ensures timely completion, customer satisfaction, and efficient use of labor and materials while managing project risks and scope changes.
- Leads project estimation, staffing, scheduling, and reconciles final billings. Manages project team to achieve timely, profitable, and high-quality results.
- Serves as the primary customer interface, resolving scope changes, cost adjustments, and issues to maintain satisfaction and profitability.
- Works closely with the Contracting & Estimating Department for planning and change order negotiations. Coordinates project sequencing to avoid delays and rework.
- Manages daily staffing and project progress, audits reports, and adjusts staffing to meet requirements and expectations. Resolves labor disputes and maintains positive relationships.
- Monitors project progress and cost performance using earned value management. Provides timely management reports and makes adjustments as needed to ensure profitability.
- Ensures continuous focus on safety and environmental concerns, effectively resolving issues as they arise.
- Actively monitors subcontractor/vendor performance to ensure they meet project standards and expectations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in construction project management, multi-craft or ship building/repair environments a big plus.
- In-depth knowledge of ship repair systems, sequencing, and construction planning is a big plus
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, estimate costs, and negotiate effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision and ensure project success from start to finish.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach to managing expectations and project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize labor utilization and ensure project profitability.
- Strong customer service skills and a strategic approach to managing scope changes and contract negotiations.
- Expertise in project documentation, contract interpretation, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
