The Advanced Capabilities Office (HDS) and the National Geospatial-Intelligence College (HDN), part of the Human Development Directorate (HD) at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support critical systems engineering activities. About the Human Development Directorate :
The Human Development Directorate (HD) focuses on recruiting, developing, and retaining highly skilled professionals in the geospatial intelligence community. The directorate provides world-class training and professional development to ensure the continued success of mission-critical activities across the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG). The National Geospatial-Intelligence College (NGC) plays a key role in providing over 1,700 courses annually to more than 15,000 students worldwide, offering both classroom and web-based instruction.
Role Overview :
The Senior Systems Engineer will lead and guide a team of engineers to provide multidisciplinary support for mission capabilities and systems that advance the operational effectiveness of geospatial intelligence. You will be responsible for delivering technical solutions to enhance the architecture and integration of systems within the NGAs mission-critical programs, collaborating across federal agencies and international partners. This is a high-impact role supporting the geospatial intelligence community, where your work directly contributes to the success of national security operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and Mentor : Provide guidance to Mid-level and Junior-level engineers across the entire systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering to system integration and testing.
- Systems Engineering Expertise : Oversee the design, integration, and testing of GEOINT systems, focusing on optimizing capabilities for the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and federal partners.
- Requirements Engineering : Work with the Government to define, capture, decompose, and allocate mission and customer requirements into actionable systems-level capabilities. Develop Statements of Capabilities (SOCs), Capabilities Description Documents (CDDs), and other documentation to ensure comprehensive requirements development.
- Integration and Evaluation : Perform cross-organization integration to ensure seamless interoperability of discrete programs and projects, contributing to the unified delivery of GEOINT mission capabilities.
- Analysis and Reporting : Conduct technical assessments such as Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), and Engineering Assessments to inform decision-making and enhance mission capabilities.
- System Development and Optimization : Guide efforts in developing solutions, automating processes, enhancing system reliability, and analyzing service delivery. Review cloud service capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations.
- Collaboration Across Teams : Work with NGA’s Segment Engineering and other contractors to ensure system requirements traceability and integration, ensuring all solutions align with enterprise-level objectives.
- Strategic Guidance : Assist in strategic planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and technical decision-making for major systems acquisitions.
