Job Summary:

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Business Development. Responsibilities include researching and connecting with prospect accounts, scheduling meetings between accounts and the Director of Business Development, reviewing and providing overviews for federal procurement opportunities, and coordinating compliant responses to federal procurement opportunities., Primary functions include the prospecting, qualifying, and coordinating closing sales of new clients to drive company growth.


Collaboration with the account management and leadership team will be essential as the business development specialist works to align sales strategies with overall company objectives. Strong communication and organizational skills are paramount for success in this role.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular updates and respond to inquiries for prospect accounts.
  • Collaborate with prospects to help sell Tribal Health’s services.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular prospect meetings with a goal of scheduling eight (8) new prospect pitch meetings per month.
  • Monitor and manage project performance.
  • Keep records of calls and sales and note useful information for further development.
  • Identify strategic, new business growth opportunities and facilitate the development of new client relationships.
  • Leverage relationships to aid in the building of referral accounts and contacts.
  • Provide the Director of Business Development with regular updates on new prospects and collaborate to resolve identified challenges.
  • Review and provide detailed overviews of Federal procurement opportunities.
  • Coordinate compliant responses to Federal procurement opportunities.
  • Support and drive ongoing continuous improvement efforts and initiatives targeting overall optimization of Business Development and Account Management job functions to drive client satisfaction and related internal workflows.
  • Ensure Salesforce data is accurately captured and kept up to date.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Experience in writing proposals preferred
  • Experience working with federal contracts preferred
  • Experience utilizing customer relationship management (CMS) software.
  • Experience in generating detailed reports and delivering presentations.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • A proven track record of following through on commitments.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong sales and customer service skills.
  • Competent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or a related field or requisite applicable job experience required. MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a sales or federal contract business development role preferred
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in business analysis or a related field preferred


Work Environment:

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with clients, vendors and staff. Overnight travel may be required from time to time. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Mental Demands: There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must be able to handle frequent interruptions and must also multi-task and interact with a wide variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.

Background Check: This position may be subject to a 101-630 background check in an effort to ensure compliance with public law 101-630 “Indian child protection and family violence prevention act.” Candidates for positions that require a 101-630 background check must be able to successfully pass a background and character investigation in compliance with pl 101-630.

Drug Screen: All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning employment and will be subject to random drug testing.
