Job Overview: Work with the Building Official in code compliance and enforcement of the Tribal Building Code and Tribal Safety program on all residential and commercial construction on Tribal Lands. Works as a Building Inspector conducting plan review, permit approval, and inspections before, during and after construction. Conduct safety inspections and assist the Building Official in planning and execution of annual safety training and enforcement program.

Job Requirements:
Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Combination of post high school education with courses in building inspection, construction technology and/or experience with building inspections, design, construction, plumbing, mechanical or life and safety systems.
- Possess MN State Limited Building Official certification with ability to obtain MN State Building Official certification within a year.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency to include word-processing, electronic mail, and related business software.
- Completed OSHA 40-hour safety certification.
- Valid Class D driver’s license required with good driving record.
- Ability to work in a wide range of climate temperatures, including excessive heat and/or subzero temperatures.
- Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodations.
- Capacity to handle and lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
- Proficiency in maintaining safety while handling potential fumes, chemicals, odors, and/or noise.
