Job Overview: Performs phlebotomy, processes laboratory specimens, and evaluates their acceptability in a moderately complex CLIA-certified clinical laboratory setting. Also performs basic laboratory procedures and limited testing procedures. Prepares patients for and performs x-rays. Collects and processes biological specimens (blood, urine, stool, etc.) from patients. Performs routine laboratory testing and procedures, and operates laboratory equipment such as microscopes, analyzers, and centrifuges. Documents patient information gathered during testing procedures for each patient and evaluates for accuracy before reporting results to clinical providers

Job Requirements:
Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:
- Successful completion of an associate's degree in an approved Medical Laboratory Technician program and certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
- X-ray Operators License or ability to obtain with 90 days of hire.
- Good computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as other health care or business related software as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must hold and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. If not, CPR certified upon hire, must obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
- This position is subject to testing for drugs (THC included) & alcohol in accordance with the Federal Department of Transportation Regulations as well as the SMSC's Drug/THC and Alcohol Policy.
- Capacity to handle and lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
- Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodations, including on feet 50% of time.
