Job Overview: Repairs and maintains heavy equipment including but not limited to, diesel trucks, heavy construction equipment, power generation and hydraulic systems. Uses troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to help deliver top notch service as our mechanic. Responsible for the effective repair of machinery and components at high levels of quality. Completes work in a safe, professional and timely manner.
Maximize Your Impact: The Responsibilities You’ll Own:
- Using a high degree of independent judgment, assumes responsibility for the safe diagnoses, maintenance and repair of a fleet of composting equipment including grinders, shredders, trommel and star screeners, turners, excavators, loaders, dozers, stackers, hammer mills, and other heavy construction equipment, power generation, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, as well as equipment implements including hydraulic buckets, grapples, baskets, forks and more.
- Responds to equipment needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure
maximum value for work performed; a company truck is provided for the work. - Maintains a clean and safe work area, adheres to all safety procedures; maintains a service
vehicle in a clean and professional manner, and ensures the vehicle is always properly
maintained. - Provides assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs.
- Identifies and communicates the need for parts for inventory.
- Maintains technical and product knowledge on all equipment at the facility.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adheres to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
- Travel between multiple job sites throughout Minnesota, at times neighboring states, up to
75%. Work overtime as required. - Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and 2 years of comparable mechanic experience.
- 5 years of relevant heavy construction equipment repair experience in a shop with manufacture training, preferably some field experience operating a service truck.
- Outdoor/field service welding knowledge with 1 year experience preferred.
- Knowledgeable with all components of operating a service truck including but not limited to - service crane, air compressor, generator, welding equipment, and other specialized tools or components needed for field service repairs.
- Possesses the ability to diagnose all equipment without supervision; is also able to read, follow, understand, and communicate schematics.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions on equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to travel onsite or local up to 75% and work overtime as required
- Ability to work in a wide range of climate temperatures, including excessive heat and/or subzero temperatures.
- Proficiency in maintaining safety while handling potential fumes, chemicals, odors, and/or noise.
- Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodations, including on feet 75% of time.
- Ability to move in a variety of motions including bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, twisting, pulling, and/ or pushing.
