An Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, managing stock, and ensuring that products are efficiently tracked, stored, and available when needed. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of inventory management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, ensuring the correct quantities and locations of products are recorded in the system.
- Conduct regular stock counts and audits to ensure inventory levels match with the system.
- Investigate discrepancies between physical stock and recorded inventory, identifying the root causes and taking corrective actions.
2. Inventory Control System:
- Ensure all put away & replenishment transactions are logged in the Inventory Locations Spreadsheet accurately and in real-time.
3. Safety & Organization:
- Ensure that all inventory areas are kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Adhere to all company safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
4. Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with Inventory Control Leaders, Plant Manager & Warehouse Manager to ensure smooth operations>
- Communicate with leadership team to track transfers & backorders.
5. Cycle Counts & Audits:
- Perform periodic cycle counts and year-end physical counts of inventory.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies during audits.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with inventory management software (e.g. SAP, Oracle< NetSuite), and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, spreadsheets).
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot discrepancies and ensure accuracy in inventory management.
- Organization: Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, leaders, and other departments.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify issues and find solutions to inventory discrepancies or shipping problems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move items (up to 50lbs).
- Ability to stand, bend, and walk for long periods.
- Willingness to work in a warehouse or production environment with varying temperatures.
Working Conditions: Inventory Control Specialists typically work in a warehouse, distribution center, or office setting, and may be required to work evenings, weekends or holiday depending on business needs.
