Summary :
The Chicago Tribune is seeking a senior reporter with proven skills to take on a key general assignment reporting role that transcends traditional geographic boundaries to provide off-the-news coverage in the suburbs, the city and Downstate Illinois.
What you will do : Be a leader in our breaking news coverage, diving into more complex legal issues that touch on criminal and civil law as well as immigration and deportation news and other areas of higher political or social sensitivityDeliver a mix of breaking news coverage and enterprise reporting, both assigned and self-generated, on a broad range of subjectsReport solo at times and collaborate on other occasions with a mix of veteran and less experienced reporters and photographers, sometimes anchoring coverage of major storiesHelp set the news agenda for Chicagoland by uncovering exclusive angles on major developing stories and with your own investigations and other enterprise; this will entail developing sources and digging through documentsWork with your editor(s) to execute the needed balance of dailies and longer-term piecesWhat you will bring :

The annual salary range is $60,000 - $80,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
