Smog Technician Compensation and Benefits

• Pay – From $20 to $27 Hourly.

Smog Technician Qualifications

• Must Have a Valid Driver’s License with clean record
• Smog License
• ASE Certificated highly preferred
• 2 to 3 years’ experience in vehicle emissions testing
• Able to pass a drug test and background check

Experience – 2 years’ experience conducting emissions test on various vehicles to ensure they meet state and federal standards.

Smog Technician Responsibilities

• Conduc emissions tests on a variety of vehicles
• Diagnose and identify issues within a vehicle's emissions system
• Perform necessary repairs to ensure vehicles meet emissions standards
• Maintain detailed records of inspections and repairs
• Operate and maintain smog check equipment and tools
