Data Governance Manager

Summary

Responsible for ensuring optimal data dictionary management, data policy development, data quality management, data handling, and privacy compliance. The Manager of Data Governance will promote a culture of data governance and data-driven decision-making within the organization, leading the Data Governance Council and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related fields.
• 7 years of direct work experience with at least 3 years of direct experience creating and executing formal data governance and/or data management programs including metadata management.
• Solid understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and data protection regulations.
• Experience in metadata management including knowledge of data standards, data cataloging, tagging, lineage; and delivering operational data products in flexible data management frameworks.
• Proven track record of understanding business challenges and strategies, connecting them to data and capabilities, and recognizing and diagnosing data quality issues.
• Working knowledge of current and upcoming data governance, data management, data lifecycle management, and data product techniques and trends with a point of view on evolving concepts and best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and competing priorities, following through on committed deliverables using team-based project management with both Agile and Waterfall approaches to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to identify potential data issues and take preventive measures.
• Demonstrated learning agility, and ability to make decisions quickly and with the highest level of integrity.
• Ability to adapt to changing business needs and evolving data governance requirements
  
  

Preferred

• Experience with Stibo Systems (master data management) and data.world (data catalog).
• Relevant certifications in data governance or data management (e.g., DGSP, CDMP).
