Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction and lead highly complex projects aligned with the organization's overall strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain business plan/roadmaps and liaise with key business stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Build consensus on technology design/approach.
  • Present new projects to the Governance Committee and develop business cases when required.
  • Identify resource needs and provide input on prioritization.
  • Coordinate systems and operational needs to support significant product, policy, procedure, or program changes.
  • Define business requirements and present them to senior management for review.
  • Influence and negotiate with management and key stakeholders.
  • Develop policies/procedures to support project implementations.
  • Lead and direct the work of project teams.
  • Function as Project Manager for technology projects, leveraging Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid project management methodologies throughout the development cycle including planning, design/development, testing, and implementation phases.
  • Define project objectives and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with management, the project team, and project stakeholders.
  • Create, execute, and maintain all components of the project plan.
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables, goals, and milestones.
  • Define resources and schedules for project/program implementation.
  • When applicable, create and/or maintain project budgets and gain appropriate approvals for invoices.
  • Oversee third-party vendors’ project management activities.
  • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Identify and direct project resources and manage conflicts within the group.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and its scope.
  • Apply the appropriate project methodology and enforce project standards.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Routinely communicate relevant project information and status to the project team, stakeholders, and management.
  • Identify and resolve project issues efficiently.
  • Provide strategic guidance and deliver presentations to executive level management.
  • Provide management oversight for smaller scale projects and work related to products in the Information Technology Software Portfolio.
  • May assist in developing business requirements for multiple, complex business functions; must understand how those functions interact and what enterprise solutions are needed to support those business needs.
  • Document, review, and contribute to developing technical requirements for your functional area.
  • Work with the Information Technology Department to ensure that the technical/business design matches the project’s objectives, user requirements, and system needs.
  • May plan and perform functional application testing.
  • Provide consulting, training, reporting, and technical support for systems and services.
  • Work closely with development teams, users, senior management, consultants, and vendors to ensure the delivery of superior and profitable IT products and services.
  • Develop and document best practices, procedures, policies, and guidelines to support project execution and management.
  • May serve as Program Manager for another area of the business or specific platform; responsibilities would include:
    • Developing and maintaining business plans/roadmaps for the respective program;
    • Serving as a liaison with key business stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives;
    • Working with the program’s architect to gain consensus on the technology design/approach;
    • Presenting new projects to the Governance Committee and developing business cases when required;
    • Identifying resource needs and providing input on prioritization;
    • Maintaining accountability for the PM function for projects within the program and ensuring the roadmap is updated to reflect current status.
Requirements

  • BS/BA degree preferred or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 7-10 years project management work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience articulating and documenting project management documentation.
  • Strong project management, time management, initiative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship building skills.
  • Experience planning and performing functional testing.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • A good understanding of application programming, database, and system design.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Some off-shift support, and travel may be required.

Preferred

  • MBA degree.
  • Experience within the insurance and brokerage industry

This is a 24-month Contract opportunity with the potential to convert with our KS client. 100% Paid employee Medical/Dental Benefits, Paid time off, Paid Holidays, and 401(k) (with immediately vested company match) available with TriCom during the contract period.
