Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced, Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer for a contract role focused on leading and executing Cloud migration initiatives. This role is ideal for a Cloud expert with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, infrastructure automation and Cloud security. The successful candidate will be key in migrating on-premises workloads and applications to Azure while ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Migration Leadership:
• Plan & Execute Migrations – Lead the migration of on-premises infrastructure, applications, and data to Azure while ensuring minimal downtime and business continuity;
• Assessment & Strategy – Evaluate current environments, recommend migration strategies (rehost, refactor, rearchitect, rebuild), and develop roadmaps for Cloud adoption;
• Azure Landing Zone Implementation – Design and deploy Azure Landing Zones to standardize governance, security, and compliance across migrated workloads;
• Hybrid Cloud Integration – Work with on-premises teams to enable hybrid Cloud solutions, integrating Azure Services with existing data centers;
• Workload Optimization – Ensure migrated applications are optimized for cost, performance, and security post-migration.
• Cloud Engineering & Automation:
• Security & Compliance – Implement Azure Security Best Practices for identity, networking, and data protection;
• Monitoring & Optimization – Utilize Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Cost Management to ensure efficiency;
• DevOps & CI/CD – Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Support & Troubleshooting:
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for Azure environments during and after migration;
• Conduct post-migration validation and implement performance-tuning as needed;
• Develop documentation, training, and knowledge-sharing materials for internal teams.

Requirements

• 7 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years of hands-on Azure Cloud engineering.
• Proven experience in Cloud migration projects including application, database, and infrastructure migration to Azure.
• Strong expertise in Azure services (VMs, VNETs, Storage, AKS, Security, Networking, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with Azure Migrate, Site Recovery, and Database Migration services.
• Expertise in PowerShell, Python, or BASH scripting for automation.
• Familiarity with Azure security frameworks and compliance standards.
• Full understanding of hybrid Cloud architectures and networking (VPN, ExpressRoute, load balancers, firewalls).
• Experience with Azure monitoring, logging, and cost optimization.

Preferred

• Azure certifications: AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, or AZ-500.

This is a 3 Month plus Remote or Hybrid Contract opportunity with potential extensions with our Burnsville, MN client.
