Reports to: Director of Operations

The Company:

Established in 2000, the company is a fast-growing leader in the manufacturing sector, renowned for its innovative approach and exceptional market reach. With backing from a well-capitalized private equity firm, the company is poised for sustained growth through both organic initiatives and strategic M&A activities. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape procurement strategy at a high level, driving both operational efficiency and long-term scalability.

Job Description:

The Purchasing Manager will be a strategic leader, tasked with architecting a procurement function that drives business growth across multiple locations. This individual will lead the development of advanced purchasing strategies, negotiate high-value supplier agreements, and cultivate critical vendor partnerships to ensure the seamless and cost-efficient supply of top-tier materials. Collaborating with senior executives across operations, sales, and finance, the Purchasing Manager will deliver solutions that support the company’s aggressive expansion goals. This is a high-impact role requiring exceptional strategic thinking, advanced analytical capabilities, and strong leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Supplier Management

  • Lead the consolidation and optimization of vendors across multiple locations to leverage purchasing power and maximize cost efficiencies.
  • Negotiate complex, multi-year contracts that align with long-term business strategies, securing optimal pricing, delivery terms, and quality standards.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key suppliers, ensuring alignment with corporate growth objectives and fostering strategic partnerships.
  • Establish performance management frameworks to evaluate suppliers on metrics such as quality, delivery timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership across sales, production, and finance to ensure procurement strategies align with company-wide operational goals.

Inventory & Supply Chain Optimization

  • Implement innovative inventory management solutions, incorporating advanced forecasting techniques and just-in-time (JIT) inventory models to optimize working capital.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and enhance procurement efficiency, inventory turnover, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance supply chain resilience, ensuring continuity of supply in a dynamic and competitive marketplace.
  • Lead the integration and implementation of pricing strategies within the new ERP system, ensuring accurate and dynamic pricing models that align with company objectives and market conditions.

Cost Management & Risk Mitigation

  • Continuously analyze commodity markets (e.g., steel) and other key inputs to anticipate pricing trends and develop hedging or forward-buying strategies.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives, including value engineering and long-term supplier relationships that mitigate supply chain risk while delivering financial performance improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a track record of leading procurement in complex, multi-location environments.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value, long-term supplier agreements that deliver significant cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Expertise in make-to-order manufacturing environments, including direct experience with JIT and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in procurement software and supply chain analytics, with a deep understanding of digital tools to enhance strategic sourcing and inventory management.
  • Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive cross-functional collaboration.

Compensation:

The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive compensation package, including an executive-level base salary, a performance-based bonus, and a comprehensive benefits plan. The company offers significant growth potential within a high-performance environment, with opportunities for future leadership roles.
