Sous Chef – Bakery

Location : Universal City, CA

Type : 1-Year Contract (W2)

Qualifications :

Minimum of 5 years of experience in culinary services
Culinary Arts degree preferred
Food Manager Certificate required
Intermediate to advanced understanding of the culinary arts
Strong time management and organizational skills
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local food handling regulations
Experience in training, directing, and supervising teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work holidays, days, nights, and weekends as required

Responsibilities :

Provide direction, coaching, and leadership for all BOH (Back of House) Team Members

Hire, train, and coach kitchen Team Members on tasks and equipment handling

Responsible for weekly scheduling of kitchen Team Members

Train kitchen staff on cleanliness and sanitation practices

Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures

Maintain recipe accuracy and ensure quality food is prepared within approved ticket times

Monitor food freshness through proper ordering and rotation

Oversee proper food handling and safety protocols

Attend new menu training and train Team Members on new menu item preparation

Implement company initiatives and new menu rollouts

Communicate and enforce changes to food products, processes, and equipment

Maintain kitchen equipment by ensuring proper use, maintenance, and repairs

Oversee and ensure completion of daily opening, mid, and closing duties

Control food costs by following product storage procedures, standard recipe control, and waste reduction measures
