Role Description
We are seeking a full-time, on-site Project Engineer for our Virginia Beach, VA location. This role involves project management, planning, and ensuring the engineering quality of our projects. Daily responsibilities will include collaborating with team members, communicating project progress, overseeing electrical engineering components, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Project Team to plan and support the successful execution of assigned construction engineering projects, ensuring timelines are met.
- Work closely with the Project Managers and Superintendents to develop effective construction plans and schedules, identifying necessary methods to achieve project objectives.
- Interpret and communicate drawings, specifications, and technical information to the Project Team, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and design requirements. Identify, order, and coordinate the delivery of essential materials, such as pipes, stone, reinforcing steel, and beams.
- Collaborate with the Project Team and Purchasing Department to ensure timely and cost-effective finalization of purchase orders and subcontracts.
- Oversee the RFI and submittal process, maintaining project control logs in Sage Intacct and CMiC.
- Assist the Project Manager in the development of Change Orders and related documentation.
- Monitor all project activities, including those of subcontractors, to ensure safety compliance alongside the Safety Manager.
- Maintain project safety files and evaluate the project schedule for tasks requiring special safety measures.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in construction management, including roles in estimating, operations, or engineering; heavy civil experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience required. Continued education in construction is highly desirable.
- OSHA 30-hour certification is mandatory.
- Proven project engineering skills with strong knowledge of contract administration systems, job cost management, change order management, labor and equipment reporting, planning, scheduling, and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification is a plus.
- Ability to work on-site in Virginia Beach, VA.
- Previous experience in construction or infrastructure projects is a plus.
