Job Summary
The Manufacturing Production Planner is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations in the planning and scheduling area, including the creation of work packages, instructions, material management, and ensuring production goals are met in an efficient and timely manner. This role supports the coordination of workflow and ensures adherence to safety, quality, and budgetary standards. The planner will work closely with other teams to address any production-related challenges, such as material shortages or disruptions in workflow, and help ensure that all processes are followed correctly.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the creation of work packages, instructions, and material management to meet quality standards and align with production schedules.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper material availability and prevent shortages or overstock.
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to safety regulations, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Address issues related to material shortages or disruptions in workflow to help maintain production timelines.
- Assist in coordinating with inventory and purchasing teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Support in tracking and reporting on the status of work in progress, material availability, and any potential production issues.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Assist with other planning-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required); Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Preferred)
- 3 years of relevant manufacturing/planning experience
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of production processes, quality control, and inventory management
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Ability to read blueprints
- Technical proficiency in material requirements planning and scheduling software
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Bonus if you have completed a shipyard apprenticeship
