S ummary
The Senior Outfitting Designer designs the form, look, or routing of equipment or systems before fabrication or installation, typically through the depiction on a drawing or related document
Responsibilities
- Create and revise 2D drawings and schematics, as well as supporting documents such as a bill of material or change notice
- Review design interface with ship structure and other systems using CAD models and drawings to eliminate interferences and verify form, fit, and function
- Perform quality checks on drawings or documents created by other team members
- Perform verification of installation or fabrication by a physical confirmation via a shop or ship check
- Develop written technical information, including procedures, tests, purchase specifications, and various reports with minimal guidance from others
- Assist estimating efforts through takeoffs or preliminary calculations
- Comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Organize, track, and prepare submittal information for equipment and materials, including identification and nomenclature, dimensional data, utility requirements, purchasing data, and quantities
- Assist other departments with procurement, installation, commission, and turnover systems and equipment
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current and new techniques, practices, procedures, and applicable processes
- Advise superiors of developments that may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, or interdepartmental relations
- Conduct work safely and per established procedures and per practices that increase efficiency
- Other duties as assigned
