Job Description
As a Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and subcontracted services to meet the company's operational needs. You will build strong relationships with suppliers, ensure cost-effective procurement, and oversee the timely delivery of plumbing and HVAC needs. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project needs for piping, plumbing and ductwork and solicit quotations from local vendors.
- Compare vendor quotations for best value and lead times
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.
- Analyze subcontractor and equipment vendor quotations post project award to determine most appropriate selection per project requirements
- Assist with the preparation of submittal documents to be transmitted to clients at the start of each project.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services in accordance with project timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and specifications.
- Resolve issues related to delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies in orders.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in the plumbing, piping or HVAC industry.
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent, Buyer, or in a similar procurement role.
- Prior construction experience preferred but not required
- Construction management, Engineering, Business or related bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Knowledge of supply chain procedures and best practices.
- Analytical mindset with an ability to solve problems effectively.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring quality standards.
