Job Summary And Qualifications
The Certified Surgical First Assist will perform as the surgeon’s assistant in the operating room, during evaluations, procedures, care management, and follow-up. The Certified Surgical First Assist assumes the responsibility for ensuring effective communication with the circulator, the surgeon, the patient and their family, as well as the other members of the surgical team. The skills required for this position include but are not limited to setting up and scrubbing the following cases: Robotic, Bariatric, General, GI, GYN, Orthopedic, Spine/Neuro, Urology, Vascular, and ENT procedures.

Job Summary And Qualifications

What you will do in this role:
- You will manage instruments, equipment, and supplies for all surgical procedures
- You will be responsible for scrubbing, assisting, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon in all surgical procedures
- You will assist in the preparation of surgical patients. You will assist with positioning patients, applications of plaster casts, immobilizers as well as surgical dressings and drainage
- You will clamp, ligate, and cut tissue as per surgeon’s directive
- You will close all wound layers (facia, subcutaneous, and skin) as per surgeon’s directive
- You will also perform duties in the scrub role as assigned
- Graduation from an accredited school of Surgical Technologist or Certified Surgical Assist Program is required
- Certification as Certified First Assist is required
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
- Prior OR Scrub Tech and/or First Assist experience is required
