Position Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Product Development Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the design, development, and enhancement of new products. You will collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, sales, marketing, supply chain and manufacturing teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet customer needs and align with company goals. Senior Product Development Engineer Responsibilities:

• The primary job function for this team member is identification of company goals to conceptualize, design, and test new products. The successful candidate while working in conjunction with other Trident resources and outside resources, will formulate manufacturing specifications and perform design analyses to ensure all products meet industry standards and guidelines for functionality.

Key Competencies:

• Product Design & Development: Lead the design, testing, and development of new products, ensuring they meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturability requirements.
• Prototyping & Testing: Develop prototypes, conduct tests, analyze results, and iterate designs based on feedback and findings.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the design, engineering, and production teams to ensure product requirements are met throughout the development lifecycle.
• Documentation & Compliance: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test results, manufacturing specifications and product performance data. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Project Management: Manage multiple development projects, meeting deadlines and budget constraints while maintaining product quality.
• Supplier & Vendor Coordination: Liaise with and draft specifications for suppliers and vendors for sourcing materials, components, and equipment required for product development and testing.
• Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve engineering challenges that arise during product development, from design issues to production hurdles. Create product design(s) that fulfill the company or customer’s strategic goals while integrating the needs of marketing, sales and manufacturing departments. Strive to find the most efficient path to market for new products, whether this involves sourced materials or new manufactured items.
• Create designs using the Autodesk Suite of computer-aided design software products and fabricate models that can be tested.
• Knowledge of the industrial processes and standards, as well as emerging new technology for the industries to be served.
• Commercial awareness of the market for the product and how to place the product as marketable against competitors.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to function autonomously once given a set of priorities and objectives – no need for micromanagement.
• Holds safety in highest regard by making good safety decisions, following safety procedures, watching out for the safety of self and others, contributing to safety improvements, and participating in safety programs.  Will adhere to all company EHS policies and standards.

Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• 4 years of product development experience
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols. The excellently qualified candidate has knowledge of manufacturing processes used in our facilities such as RFID technology, polymer profile and film extrusion, injection molding, coatings or adhesive applications.
• Experience with 3D modeling software and report writing programs.
• Excellent math, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the year.
