Key Responsibilities
- Uses specialized data resources and bioinformatics software to develop specialized databases and analytical tools.
- Assists in problem resolutions and recommends enhancements to analytical, processing and statistical software.
- Tests analytical and visualization improvements to bioinformatics tools.
- Supports provision of access to relevant data and enhanced analytical, visualization, and other computational tools and techniques.
- Bioinformatician, Biologist, or Applied Scientist with expertise in biomedical data types and standards, application of structured vocabularies and ontologies, and approaches to information technology solutions to integrate biomedical data into regulatory decision making.
- Supports and develops procedures that are effective in supporting program goals and flexible enough to accommodate changing procedures.
- Incorporates innovative and emerging technologies that will meet the needs of the FDA regulatory community as its requirements evolve.
- Provide high level expertise in the application of technology to areas of interest including Public Health Informatics; statistics, bio-statistics, mathematics; specific tools and data resources relevant to the federal health mission including SAS, Epi Info, etc.; applying sound quantitative data and methods to support deployment of resources.
- Provide expertise across a wide variety of IT areas as applied to regulatory review, including information retrieval technology, decision science, web technology, data mining, expert systems, networking, and education.
- Provide expertise in the integration of a variety of heterogeneous information systems and databases the sharing and dissemination of public health information; in the interaction of information security technology and the requirements for privacy and confidentiality of data; with national and/or international standards development activities such as HL7, X12, WSC; and in the application of advanced scientific visualization technology.
