Title: System Administrator
Duration: Full Time Permanent
The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining DOC NS3's software and hardware assets, ensuring the proper operation, security, and configuration of systems. This includes tasks such as system installations, patches, backups, troubleshooting, and supporting day-to-day IT operations. The role also involves working with internal bureaus and external agencies to resolve issues and optimize the performance of IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration:
- Administer virtual and physical servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions on classified systems.
- Perform system upgrades, backups, and recovery.
- Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure high availability.
- Administer and support systems such as Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and other shared services.
Security & Compliance:
- Implement and enforce security policies, ensuring all systems meet security standards.
- Perform vulnerability and risk analyses, including system audits and patch management.
- Apply and configure security standards such as DISA STIGs or Intelligence Standards.
- Identify and resolve security violations, performing system-level security maintenance.
- Perform security audits, report findings, and take corrective actions.
Troubleshooting & Support:
- Provide first-level response for technical issues related to hardware, software, and connectivity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems at both the physical and logical network levels.
- Offer technical support and consultation for customers and IT staff.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with network hardware and operating systems.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide regular reports, including asset inventories, status ticketing, continuous monitoring results, and administration activities.
- Coordinate the preparation of status reports, asset management reports, and monitoring results.
Operational Support:
- Respond to service outages, plan for system downtime, and assist with maintenance and upgrades.
- Manage backup and restoration operations, ensuring data integrity.
- Work closely with Senior Systems Engineers to support system optimization and integration of new technologies.
- Perform database administration and support for system resource management.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders for system design, review, and implementation.
- Assist in system implementation, documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide consultation and training to IT staff as needed.
Asset Management & Reporting:
- Monitor and manage asset lifecycles, including provisioning, decommissioning, and maintaining asset inventories.
- Generate asset inventory reports, status ticketing reports, and continuous monitoring results.
Deliverables:
Status Ticketing Report: Daily opening and closing ticket reports.
Administration Report: Detailed reports of maintenance activities, including patches, updates, and asset management.
Continuous Monitoring Results: Ongoing scanning results for all managed assets.
Asset Inventory Report: Report detailing the results of asset inventories.
Other Reports & Documentation: Additional documentation and reports as needed, per agreed templates and timelines.
Security & Clearance:
Required: Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
Certifications:
Must hold certifications such as COMPTIA A , Network , Security .
ITIL 4 Foundation certification required within 6 months of employment.
Experience and Education:
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of system administration experience.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.) and 6 years of system administration experience.
