What are the responsibilities and job description for the SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST position at Trigg County School District?
POSITION SUMMARY
Conduct psychological assessments of students who have been referred for special education and related services, including the administration of standardized assessments, behavior evaluations, and completion of the written integrated report. Work with special education teachers and related services providers in the completion of required three-year assessments of students with identified needs for special education and related services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Appropriate Kentucky Certification
Must meet the requirements of a criminal record check(s) as specified by Kentucky State Law
Must meet health requirements as specified in the district personnel policy
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Conducts initial eligibility psychological assessments including behavioral observations
Interprets test results and completes a written integrated report for each student referred for special education, as well as those students requiring a three-year re-evaluation
Consults with school personnel and parents concerning the special education needs of students in the referral process or currently receiving special education services
Provides parent training as needed for students in the referral process or who are currently receiving special education services
Participates in Admission and Release Committee meetings, as requested
Provides individual student counseling as requested by the appropriate ARC
Provides small group counseling sessions for students, at the request of the appropriate ARC, based upon the identified needs of the students
Organizes and conducts group sessions focused on the development of specific social competencies in students who demonstrate deficiencies, as well as engage in primary prevention efforts for at-risk populations
Assists Special Education Facilitator with referrals, including the identification and recommendation of appropriate educational and behavioral strategies
Provides professional development to Special Education Facilitators and Diagnosticians in issues related to psycho-educational and / or mental health issues
Serves as an Ad-Hoc Member of the committee assisting staff with interventions and strategies prior to referral to special education
Performs other duties as specified by the Director of Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
200-day contract with salary determined by the adopted certified and administrative salary schedules of Trigg County Board of Education.
