Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of at least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (2 units preferred).
- Ordination or endorsement from a recognized faith group.
Job Responsibilities
- Professional Development:
- Certified Chaplains: Complete ongoing education requirements to maintain certification.
- Chaplain Associates (Non-Certified Chaplains): Complete 20 hours of continued pastoral education annually.
- Documentation: Record relevant information in EPIC, including patient religion and advance directives, for effective coordination with healthcare staff.
- Patient and Team Support:
- Inform patients of available spiritual care resources and offer emotional and spiritual guidance through prayers and active listening.
- Act as a supportive team member, providing coverage during vacations or absences, and demonstrate flexibility by participating in on-call services as needed.
- Clinical Integration: Provide pastoral care within assigned hospital units by actively engaging in team education, patient care rounds, and regular visits to ensure a meaningful integration of services.
- Team Collaboration: Exhibit a positive and proactive approach as a valuable member of the pastoral care team, contributing to shared goals and responsibilities.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands: Occasional climbing, kneeling, lifting (both under and over 50 lbs.), pulling, pushing, and stooping.
- Sensory Requirements: Frequent use of hearing (conversation and other sounds), talking, and visual acuity (near and far).
- Activity Levels: Frequently sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and using hands.
- Additional Requirements: Ability to maintain flexibility in handling physical tasks and adherence to occupational safety standards.
