Job Overview:
This position serves as a liaison for an extensive variety of laboratory customers. It procures quality specimens from adult, geriatric, pediatric, and infant patients for diagnostic testing according to CLIA, TJC, and CAP guidelines and may perform EKGs on outpatients. This role involves making and receiving telephone calls, gathering data required for service and billing, answering questions, and resolving issues. It also includes completing documentation to meet OIG compliance guidelines, involving accurate interpretation and transcription of physician orders and LIS/HIS order entry.
This position may involve receiving incoming specimens, entering patient demographics and test orders using LIS/HIS systems, labeling specimens, and distributing them to the proper lab departments for testing.
Work Hours: Part-time, 50 hours bi-weekly Night shift
Job Requirements:
- High School Degree or GED. No equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- 1-2 years experience in Phlebotomy
Job Responsibilities:
- Completes work following processes and protocols for safety, confidentiality, and sample integrity.
- Documents all information as required in expected timeframes.
- Ensures specimen integrity by obtaining patient identification, accurate data collection, and specimen collection.
- Takes on complex tasks when asked and takes the initiative to handle tasks as needed.
- Understands the importance of accuracy at all steps of the collection process and completes all work accurately and timely.
