JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for the RN's providing NST testing and the administrative functions of outpatient schedulers in the Seton Center and Bethesda North Perinatal Center. Works collaboratively with unit leadership for effective efficient operations and exceptional customer service. Uses the nursing process and clinical expertise to triage and coordinate the scheduling of high risk testing with central scheduling, hospital, ER and consulting physicians. Coordinates the care of maternity patients for testing modalities of the perinatal diagnostic department (Seton Center). Participates in performance improvement activities and facilitates implementation of clinical and operational best practices. Educates perinatal outpatient schedulers on appropriate scheduling and charge methodology to provide consistency and accuracy of charges across both sites. Serves as the liaison to Central Scheduling for prioritization of testing and conflict resolution.
This role includes On-Call expectations
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
New hires must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire
Registered Nurse
Strong oral and written communication skills
Customer service skills
Ability to work with physicians and other professional colleagues
Ability to collect data, generate reports, and provide analysis
Skilled in computer programs and EMR
Membership in related professional organization preferred
3-4 years experience Clinical in Nursing Labor and Delivery Nursing
Experience in care coordination for inpatient and outpatient setting
1-2 years experience Supervisor/Lead Management Scheduling and computer experience

Manages NST RN's and outpatient schedulers at both GSH and BN. Assists with annual budget development. Maintains schedule to achieve budgeted productivity. Provides education and operational oversight to the outpatient schedulers to assure consistent w
Triages and coordinates the scheduling of high risk testing with Central Scheduling, perinatal units, ER and consulting physicians ensuring patients are scheduled and prioritized based on the individual's clinical needs.
Daily prepares the problem list for the MD covering the perinatal department. Coordinates scheduling for consults and follow-up for scans and procedures. Demonstrates effective communication with patients, providers and unit staff to assess and priorti
