Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Fitness Manager for an active adult community to lead our fitness facility and ensure an exceptional experience for our members. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a passion for fitness, and the ability to effectively communicate with both staff and residents. As a Fitness Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, Wellness Center, group fitness classes, personal training, organizing fitness and wellness events, and fostering a positive environment that promotes health and wellness
Responsibilities
- Hire and supervise fitness contractors and personal trainers. Facilitate department independent contractor training.
- Create & schedule aerobic classes to ensure resident fitness needs are met.
- Schedule community-wide presentations on fitness, wellness and health-related topics of general interest using local experts and consultants. Partner with local, regional and national organizations to provide programming opportunities.
- Prepare information, flyers, and web-site postings on special events for communication purposes to residents regarding ongoing activities and upcoming events.
- Maintain Point of Service system up to date by entering new information and deleting completed events.
- Organize and oversee support groups; organize fund raising “walks” for various charitable causes.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all fitness and wellness facilities.
- Work with residents to answer health questions and concerns via emails and/or telephones calls or in person.
- Work with the Activities Manager, as well as coordinating with her/him on additional tasks and special projects and events.
- Prepare and maintain department budgets for all programs for the calendar year.
- Complete computer-generated fitness reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Teach classes if a class instructor is unable.
- Evaluate and maintain upkeep of Fitness Center equipment; primary contact with equipment vendors for operational issues and repair and/or replacement needs. Compile pricing information for fitness center equipment and maintain list of appropriate vendors.
- Prepare contractor payments for Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructors.
- Maintain successful community Parkinson’s program.
- Maintain current Group Fitness Certification, CPR, AED, Food Handler and First Aid Certification
- Proficiency in English, orally and in written correspondence; communicates clearly, concisely and professionally.
- Demonstrate time management and multitasking skills and possess the ability to prioritize workload.
- Possess a high level of work quality with attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail; demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to rapid change.
- Display original thinking and creativity; generate suggestions for improving effectiveness and efficiency.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite with ability to learn a variety of software programs.
- Remain current with local health codes and ensure the Association complies with all requirements.
- Maintain a strong Knowledge of MindBody Fitness Software.
- Attend seminars, conferences and classes related to fitness and wellness to remain knowledgeable in professional standards and protocols.
- Be knowledgeable about each piece of equipment in the fitness center and be available to assist residents with the use of such equipment; be able to design a weight program for residents.

- Proven experience in a managerial role within the fitness or wellness industry.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Solid negotiation skills with experience in vendor management.
- Proficiency in budgeting practices and financial oversight.
- Experience in inventory management processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to lead by example, motivating staff while fostering teamwork and collaboration.
