Position: Buyer
Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Work Location: Elkhart, IN
Job Summary: Purchasing is responsible for all duties required to source, bid, and procure production materials, MRO needs, and service contracts. Purchasing is expected to conduct business in an ethical and professional manner, meet cost, quality and timing requirements for products and services. Must meet or exceed all materials metrics.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have knowledge working with SyteLine
- Negotiates contracts to procure items with the best value
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for best pricing
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions
- Administrates non-conforming purchased products
- Active in cost-cutting measures
- Participates in sourcing efforts including new materials, new suppliers, services and equipment as needed
- Works in concert with quality and engineering to approve new suppliers and qualify new materials
- Obtains quotes to support Sales Manufacturing endeavors
- Establishes and maintains Approved Supplier List (ASL) and files
- Vendor Performance Reviews Bi-yearly
- Supplier interface for the Company; follows up on PO’s, resolves problem and ensures on-time delivery.
- Provides monthly/quarterly reports/metrics to Purchasing Manager
- Assist Receiving/Buyer Personnel and serve as backup when required
- Assists with Service Contracts:
§ Copy Machines
§ Pest Control
§ Office Supplies
§ Gardener/Landscaping (Hermosa and Aragon)
§ Coffee/Water Coolers
§ Janitorial/First Aid/Safety Supplies
§ Security Alarms Service
§ Fire Protection Service
§ Other Duties as Assigned/Required
Minimum “MUST HAVE” Qualifications:
- College – AA Degree or Higher
- 10 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing
- Strong Negotiation Skills with a Proven Track Record
- Knowledgeable ERP/MRP systems experience
Working knowledge of Supply Chain Management
- APICS or CPM Certificate program
- APICS or CPM certified preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
