POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Estimator reports to the Estimating Manager

The Senior Estimator plays a pivotal role in the construction project lifecycle by providing accurate cost estimates and analysis to support decision-making and project planning. This role involves evaluating project requirements, conducting material and labor cost assessments, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop comprehensive project bids. The Senior Estimator leverages their expertise in cost estimation to ensure projects are completed within budget and meet financial objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cost Estimation:
Conduct detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to identify cost drivers and potential risks.
Bid Development:
Prepare comprehensive project bids and proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs, timelines, and deliverables.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop accurate and competitive bids.
Cost Analysis:
Analyze and compare subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.
Evaluate alternative materials, methods, and approaches to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety.
Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and timelines.
Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address identified risks and ensure project success.
Client Engagement:
Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements, cost estimates, and bid proposals.
Address client inquiries and concerns regarding project costs, scope, and timelines.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain accurate records of cost estimates, bid proposals, and project documentation.
Generate reports and presentations to communicate project costs, profitability, and financial analysis to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting construction costs.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in cost estimation methodologies and tools.
COMPETENCIES:
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
Proficiency in cost estimation techniques and software (e.g., RSMeans, ProEst, Sage Estimating).
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Time management and organizational abilities to meet project deadlines.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Adaptability and flexibility to navigate changing project requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent military or practical experience.
4 – 6 years of experience in construction cost estimation, preferably in commercial or residential construction.
Strong knowledge of construction industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Familiarity with construction contract documents and procurement processes.
Certification in cost estimating (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) is a plus.
Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning construction projects.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.
Salary : $66,000 - $99,000
