The Assistant Manager of Rail Operations Training will assist in managing TriMet's initial and recurrent training programs for Rail Operations personnel, including Rail Operators, as assigned by the Director of Transit Training and Development.
This role includes supervising Rail Training Supervisors and Training Assistants while overseeing the planning, development, scheduling, delivery, recordkeeping, and continuous improvement of Rail Transportation training programs. Additionally, the Assistant Manager will schedule initial and recurrent training to support service delivery and meet the requirements for new service start-ups.
Furthermore, this position will assist in the ongoing updates and improvements of Rail Operations training curricula, as well as ensuring alignment with Transportation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and rule books.
This position requires being onsite 5x per week.

Essential Functions
- Design, development and implementation of initial and recurrent training programs for Transportation personnel including Operators, Field Supervisors, Controllers, Customer Safety Supervisors and Station Agents, as assigned.
- Perform training needs assessments, in consultation with Rail Transportation Managers.
- Work closely with Rail Transportation Managers to ensure that safety interventions and re-instruction training occurs in a timely manner.
- Schedule development and delivery of annual and multi-year training plans, designed to fulfill training objectives and assure successful start-up of new service programs.
- Supervise Rail Transportation Training Supervisors and Training Assistants. Establish objectives, standards, work schedules and accountability for job performance.
- Assist in managing continuous update and improvement of Rail Transportation training curricula, integrated with continuous update and improvement of associated Transportation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and rule books.
- Ensure accurate and complete recordkeeping of training delivery, and document control for training curricula.
- Develop integrated training plans, objectives, and schedules for Transportation personnel to fulfill all needs for new- hire initial training, recurrent training for existing employees, and new service start-up training requirements for both new-hire and existing employees.
- Assist in development of improved training delivery methods, including e-learning and video-learning systems.
- Represent Transportation Operations Training in TriMet processes for accident review, bus and rail system change, security review, safety review, and new-hire screening and selection.
- Act in accordance with TriMet's Working and Wage Agreement.
Position Requirements
Four (4) years of total credited experience.*
One (1) year of lead rail experience in transportation, transit or a comparable service-related industry, and one (1) year of training experience are required; or two (2) years of adult education/training experience are required.
One (1) year of experience in a combined union and non-union organization is preferred.
Possession of current/valid or ability to obtain Class "A or B" CDL issued by Oregon or Washington with Passenger Endorsement and No Restrictions on Airbrakes; ability to pass a driving record check meeting TriMet driving record standards.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.*
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Minimum: $83,587.00
Maximum: $125,382.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.Selection Process
